I hope all is well with you. We are drawing close to the end of August. Before life gets too busy for many of us, I wanted to remind you of the many opportunities to grow in your faith in the year ahead. Nothing is more important than our relationship with the Lord, and, if we grow closer to God, so many other things in our lives fall into place.
First, our annual “Bible study” begins in early September. This year, we are focusing on the Catechism of the Catholic Church in a twelve week program. In particular, the study focuses on the sacraments. Get more out of Mass, confession, and your faith in general by appreciating these central mysteries of our faith. The Bible study is hosted on Tuesday nights and Wednesday mornings in the church basement. The study is the same on both nights, so you can choose which day works best in your own schedule. There is a video in a large group setting and then a time for small group discussion as well. Please register by August 15th. You can find registration forms at the exits of the church and on our church website.
Then, there is the Alpha course. The mission of Alpha is to serve and strengthen the local church by offering every member an opportunity to explore the meaning of life and to visit or revisit the basics of Christian living. This occurs in a relaxed, friendly atmosphere on Sunday evenings in the church basement. If you have questions about your faith or would like to revisit some of the basics of Christian living, this would be a great opportunity for you. The next course will begin in the months ahead. Please RSVP or direct questions to Mary Hagar by early September by contacting the parish office.
There will be other opportunities and one-time events to grow in the understanding of your faith in the year ahead too, in addition to the many ways to serve and pray. If you have any thoughts or suggestions or topics on what you might find especially helpful in growing in your faith, don’t hesitate to reach out to me or parish leadership. Thanks so much. Have a great weekend ahead. As a reminder, this Tuesday is the feast of the Assumption. We will have Masses here at Saint Timothy’s at 9:00 AM and 6:30 PM. Please note the evening Mass time, as we have often had Mass at 7:00 PM here for Holy Days but are moving it to 6:30 PM for the sake of consistency to match our usual Tuesday evening time. This is a holy day of obligation. Again, have a great weekend.
