Daily Update – Wednesday

Youth Group on steps

Hello all,

I hope your week is going well.  Here’s a brief update on what’s new around the parish and school:

  • In case you missed it yesterday, the state did approve the building plans for the school addition project.  We will go to the city for building permits now and hope to break ground on September 28th.  We’re excited to begin the construction on the classrooms which will greatly help our school.
  • Open Youth Room begins in earnest this afternoon.  As a reminder, it goes from 3:00-7:00.  Youth go to the church basement to sign in.  A meal will be provided and a talk given.  It is an opportunity for the youth of the parish to gather, have fun, learn about the faith, and have a convenient place to stop in between school and faith formation.
  • The Wednesday morning Bible Study began this morning.  Tuesday night’s session started last night.  Again, the focus of the study is on Church history this year.
  • The Holy Father’s visit to the United States is less than a week away.  He’ll land in D.C. on Tuesday night and begin his busy schedule on Wednesday with a reception at the White House by President Obama.  We do have a few of our parishioners who will be on the east coast during his trip.  Please pray for them and pray for our Holy Father.
  • Faith formation classes begin this afternoon and evening.
  • We’re still looking for volunteers for the fall festival.  Please consider how you can help.  Thank you.
  • We’re also looking for volunteers to help serve as ushers, greeters, and Eucharistic adorers.  Please contact the parish office for more information.

See you soon.
