I hope that you are all doing well. I wanted to share with you some exciting news. Beginning on July 1st, we will be blessed to have a parochial vicar, the formal title for an associate or assistant priest, at both Saint Timothy’s and Saint Ignatius.
Father Kevin Magner, who is currently serving as the parochial vicar at Saint John the Baptist in New Brighton, will be joining both Saint Timothy’s and Saint Ignatius to help assist in the pastoral care of both parishes. He is a wonderful priest who has served in a variety of capacities in the Archdiocese since his ordination in 2003. He brings a wealth of experience as someone who has served in several pastoral assignments, including high school chaplain, parochial vicar, someone who studied in Rome, and more. It will be wonderful to have him serving both of our parishes, and I look forward to living with him and working with him in the years ahead. We will have more information for you in the upcoming days and weeks on opportunities to get to know Father Magner as he moves into the parishes. I am sure he will be introducing himself soon in the days ahead.
As you likely know, sadly for us Monsignor Callaghan will be leaving us in September to return to his previous duties as the formation director for the seminarians who attend the Pontifical Irish College in Rome from the Saint John Vianney College Seminary. I know his presence will be deeply missed by all of you and certainly by me. On the positive side, we will be blessed with having three priests around the parish in the next two months. Father Kevin will live at Saint Timothy’s temporarily until he will move to Saint Ignatius in September.
Please join me in welcoming Father Magner to both parishes. It will be great to have his presence and his priestly service and witness. God bless all of you.
