Around the Parish Today

Hello all,

I hope you had a great weekend.  Here is some news around the parish today:

  • A replica of the image of the Holy Family that will be used at the World Meeting of Families in Philadelphia in a few weeks is now on display in the sanctuary.  Make sure to check it out this weekend or whenever you have a moment.  It was blessed at Mass this morning.
  • The Core Team for the youth group had a meeting last night.  The Core Team are the youth leaders who commit to prayer, retreats, service, small groups, and other acts of leadership and faith.
  • There will be an in-service for faith formation teachers this evening in the church basement.
  • We are still awaiting word from the state on the approval for the plans to add the classrooms to the school.
  • We have received a variety of bids on the church roof and are in the process of reviewing them now in the days and weeks ahead.
  • The school open house is tomorrow evening from 5:00-7:00 P.M.  Please stop by.  There will be a sloppy jo dinner provided.  There are lots of great things happening at the school.  You will hear more about those in the days and weeks ahead.
  • The Holy Father has written a letter about the upcoming year of Mercy.  It will be a great year to reflect upon God’s unconditional and infinite love and mercy.  Once we experience God’s love, our lives are never the same.  Read the full letter here.

  • Get an early start on preparation for this Sunday’s readings.  Pray with them here:

  • Today is the World Day of Prayer for the Care of Creation.  Let’s join the Holy Father and pray for God’s creation in a special way today.

I hope all is well.
