Each year, the Holy Father announces a special theme for the Church’s year. This coming year is the year of mercy. Pope Francis wants us to focus on God’s merciful and infinite love in a special way during this time.
My hope is to do something similar for our parish and focus this year in a special way on our school. Since 1951, our school has been an essential part of our parish, providing an excellent education, a firm foundation of faith, and solid moral values. Children at our school spend the whole day in a faithful, loving environment during these most important years of their development. It is a great blessing for them, for our alumni, their parents, and our entire parish community. The school has helped to keep our parish thriving and alive with young families, new energy, vocations, and more. While not everyone chooses Catholic education and we also strive to provide the best faith formation possible to those who choose to send their children elsewhere, we can all agree that our school has been a great blessing for our parish, our children, and our community since its foundation and continues to be so today. It’s an opportune time for us to focus on the blessings of our school and Catholic education in general as we begin to add more classrooms, start a preschool program, receiving some additional funding from foundations in the Archdiocese, and more. You will hear more about this in the weeks and months ahead. Thank you again for all of your support for the school and the important work that it does.
